Lauren Mandel is a producer, director and comedian with a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University in Cinematic Production & Communications and a minor in Corporate Strategy. Born in Chicago, Lauren began taking improv and acting classes at an early age through Lookingglass Studio part of Lookingglass Theater founded by David Schwimmer, Joey Slotnick and others.
She devoted much of her early career to work in theater. Among her favorite performances in Chicago were as Susan Walker in Miracle on 34th Street with Tony award winning play writer, Tracy Letts. After moving to New York, Lauren was quickly cast as Katie in the American Girl Theater's Circle of Friends written by Gretchen Cryer. She also appeared in the American Girl Holiday Celebration show.
At that point, Lauren decided she wanted to create her own projects and added Producer and Writer to her resume. Since then, Lauren has produced, written, directed and acted in over four popular YouTube series ranging in genre from talk-show to sketch comedy and scripted fiction. Her entertainment news show “The Scoop” took second place at the College Media Association Apple Awards in 2014 for Best Entertainment Broadcast. In 2015, Lauren along with her co-creators, Julia Seales and Rachel Brittain, relseaed their first short film "The Delivery Girl" which was featured in the Big Apple Film Festival and Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival.
Upon graduating from Vanderbilt, Lauren moved back to New York to complete her training at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater where she continues to take classes in their advance study program. In the Fall of 2015, Lauren was invited to join the team of "Night Late", UCB's flagship late night talk show. She has produced over 20 shows with hosts such as Willie Geist (TODAY), Sasheer Zamata (SNL), Jill Kargman (Odd Mom Out) and more!
Lauren is currently working as the Writers' Assistant at Saturday Night Live.
